Redmond Barry Reading Room

328 Swanston Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000

The resonant Redmond Barry Reading Room is a space with true charm and heritage sophistication. One of the largest spaces the State Library has to offer, the high ceiling, curved architraves and glass roof paneling illuminate the space, highlighting the classic architectural styling no longer seen today. The impressive room sits between the Cowen Gallery and Swanston Street foyer of the State Library, perfect for a grand entrance through the iconic Corinthian pillars. The venue comes alive at night with the use of uplights, removal of day furniture and the addition of styling to transform the practical room into a unique event space.

The Redmond Barry Reading Room can be utilised for grand gala dinners, large cocktail events or even pre-dinner drinks before moving through to one of the various other spaces the Library has to offer.
