Thursday Night saw Showtime Events Centre transformed into the night of nights for the who’s who of Australian independent brewing. 500 of the best brains in beer made the short stroll from the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre to South Wharf and onto the Common Man Lawn for a well-earned beer, or five.
Brewcon ran over the 3-6 of September showcasing the brightest and best of independent brewing in Australia, showcasing and sharing products, techniques and over 1,000 tastings that go into the running to win one of the coveted Indie Awards.
Attendees at last nights awards included judges, brewers and industry professionals who had spent the days leading up to the awards night on the busy show-floor, so were rip-roaring and ready to go as doors opened at 6.30pm.
Staff welcomed guests with an eclectic mix of craft beers brought in by the team at Brewcon, also serving some (brilliantly paired) canapes like Japanese Karaage Chicken and Peppered Roast Beef Crostini’s.
A stand-alone bar in the marquee by Great Ocean Road Gin provided a break from beer and proved to be incredibly popular throughout the evening.
Dual food stations made sure guests always had something to eat with the crowd favourite Spanish paella station and the diversified Italian grazing station working nicely as a break between beers and announcements.
Suffice to say the evening went off without a hitch and importantly the guests had a blast, with the winners even more so.
