Showing the love in lock down

Showing the love in lock down

Showtime Event Group has always loved hosting our wedding tastings. But with restrictions in place, this year we took our event online.

We certainly know how to put on a good event, be it physically or virtually! On Saturday night Showtime Event Group invited all future booked couples across all of our venues to join us in an evening of education and entertainment. We have missed interacting with our couples so much, and know how hard it has been for them who in some cases have had to postpone their big day more than once already. Many couples were feeling deflated and had lost that initial passion they had, so this was a chance to reconnect and inject the couples with that passion and excitement once again!

Jess and Alex – “Thank you so much! It was such a lovely and fun night and a bit of an escape during an otherwise tricky time. It was clear that the team put in so much effort to organise the night and it was lovely to see the team’s and other couples’ smiling faces too. We look forward to the next night in!"

The night started off with our enthusiastic General Manager Brad Dabbs, who was the MC for the night. Brad introduced the team and welcomed the couples, which segued into a cocktail making class hosted by our wonderful barman Oscar who made a delectable Passion fruit Caprioska. It was awesome to see that already couples were participating and having fun. Smiles galore.

Hayley Murnane, Head of Weddings, then took the lead and shared her ‘Wedding Mythbuster’ tips such as; things to consider when contemplating DIY wedding styling, and that having an odd number in the bridal party isn’t something to be afraid of. A crowd favourite was that it is okay to and skip any Wedding formalities that aren’t important to you.

Elias Graydon, Wedding Producer at Rippon Lea Estate, then shared some helpful tips on how best to utilise the ‘bridal attendant’ on their wedding day. Elias has extensive experience in this role, which is essentially the front of house staff designated to looking after the bridal party on the big day. Tip’s Elias shared included having fun with the bridal attendant and sharing your preferences with them, and the importance of eating your meal on the day.

State Library Victoria Wedding Coordinator, Colleen Haggarty, had everyone on the edge of their seats with a fast round of Trivia. There was a bottle of champagne at stake so the competition was on! All questions were wedding related so whilst being fun and competitive, it was education and carried the Wedding theme through the night.

Dilara & Joseph - “It was a wonderful entertaining night, we really picked up lots of useful tips for our wedding and it was great to hang out with other couples. It really felt like a supportive community and you can really tell that everyone involved cares deeply about your experience.”

Gavin Johnson, South Wharf Wedding Producer then took the spotlight, he had collaborated with the incredible clothandconfettievents and was able to showcase some of their products as an option for couples wanting to upgrade their styling. Gavin demonstrated 3 napkin folds; book fold, waterfall fold and knot fold, using different linen napkin and cutlery colours to demonstrate the impact of luxe styling upgrades.

Bianca Galjar, South Wharf Wedding Coordinator, addressed the age old debate, plated desserts vs roving canape desserts. Showtime Event Group have always offered these two desert styles as options for our wedding couples, but the question has always remained, which is best? Bianca went through a very detailed pros and cons list for both options, in conclusion Bianca determined it comes down to demographic, our older guests love to sit and eat dessert at their own leisure, while others appreciate bite sized options to keep them energised while tearing up the dance floor.

Liam & Andrew - “A very warm thank you for a great Saturday night - it was heaps of fun!”

Alice got everyone off their seats, literally! Alice Hall, our multi-talented Wedding Producer at the State Library Victoria who is a dance instructor took our couples through a ‘first dance’ lesson! It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved including the Showtime staff, by the end of it our couples had mastered a basic first dance routine and had smiles ear to ear.

Isaac from Isaac Main Entertainment ended the night on a high! Starting with a few key tips to consider when selecting entertainment for your Wedding night, Isaac then revealed his talent and took to the guitar and microphone, serenading us with some upbeat wedding tracks with a true Isaac twist, keeping everyone on their feet!
